At the top of the Machu Picchu mountains grows one of Peru's most prized cacao varieties, the "chuncho". Many of the Peruvian cocoas carry the label "Chuncho" (as in Ecuador it happens with "la arriba"), but most are modern hybrids that have spread throughout the region.
