Ibiza and Formentera Agua de Mar does not use any chemical substances or materials that could alter the original composition of the Agua de Mar in any of the stages. The extraction of Ibiza and Formentera Agua de Mar is carried out in the open sea within the first nautical mile, in areas where the minimum depth varies between 40 and 100 m. and the capture is carried out between 15 and 25 m. deep; looking for rocky bottoms, outside bays, ports, beaches, and in general inhabited areas where there could be any human activity that poses a risk to the quality of the Agua de Mar. It uses different stages to achieve optimal filtration for its use for human consumption. From the capture they do a first pre-filter to avoid solid particles in suspension. They then proceed to three different stages of filtration and sterilization, ending the latter with a microfiltrate of 0.20 microns for use in the kitchen and similar and an ultrafiltrate for direct ingestion and similar. They carry out numerous quality analyses of both the extraction area and the final product. The analyses have different parameters, following the guidelines of Royal Decree 140/2013 and Royal Decree 1799/2010 which regulates the process of production and marketing of packaged seawater for human consumption The maximum recommended dose per person and day is 50 ml in ultrafiltered seawater.
