Nutilab Berberine 60 capsules. Food supplement based on dry barberry extract. Berberis vulgaris, or barberry, which contains in its berries a powerful plant alkaloid: berberine. This substance, traditionally used for its immunostimulant, antifungal, antibacterial properties and its ability to regulate intestinal problems, is revealed as a new weapon against type II diabetes and prediabetic conditions, which have been increasing epidemically for a few years.
The mechanism of action of berberine derives essentially from the regulation of AMPK (Adenosine Monophosphate activated Protein Kinase). This proteinkinase, activated by AMP, is a fundamental ubiquitous enzyme, which participates in the normalization of energy metabolism and in the regulation of food intake and tissue sensitivity. It plays a key role in certain metabolic diseases such as diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity or diabetes-related complications.
Berberine, by activating AMPK, will act at several levels:
.- It improves sensitivity to insulin, it will facilitate the transport of intracellular glucose, allowing the organism to better use both sugars and insulin and, in this way, reduce the rate of glucose in the blood;
.- It stimulates the metabolism of fatty acids in the mitochondria, it will reduce the concentrations of circulating lipids in the blood: triglycerides and LDL cholesterol;
.- It favors the extraction of glucose transporters from the bloodstream, allowing a noticeable decrease in blood sugar levels;
.- Increasing the production of GLUT4, a glucose transporter that is only found in muscles and fat cells, will allow a noticeable improvement in insulin sensitivity.
The set of these properties makes it possible to compare berberine in the metformin molecule, a substance widely used in pharmacy for the treatment of type II diabetes and obesity related to glucose metabolism. The most representative studies also deal with the effectiveness of berberine compared to metformin in patients affected by type II diabetes, associated or not with dyslipidemia.
Berberine, with classically recognized properties at the cardiovascular, immune and intestinal level, is also shown to be an excellent nutritional supplement, very easy to use and well tolerated, in the treatment of type II diabetes, taken at the beginning, or as a treatment assistant to the latter.
According to the research carried out on berberine, the recommended average dosage varies from 1000 to 1500 mg per day, divided into two or three doses, before the three main meals.
To feel its effects fully, it is desirable to carry out a treatment of at least three months, since its optimal action is observed after two weeks of regular intake.
Apart from the fact that some users have noticed a slight temporary constipation at the beginning of the treatment, berberine is completely devoid of side effects.
The four main advantages of berberine can be summarized as follows:
.- Notable drop in blood sugar;
.- Reduction of glycated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c);
.- Rebalancing of insulin circulating rates;
.- Decrease in triglycerides, LDL cholesterol and total blood cholesterol.
